~Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. . .And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
Now, a lot of you are pretty sure you know what love is. I'm sure you are correct when you think of God and how much He's done for you! He has put you through obstacles of your life, given you strength, dried your tears and even pushed you harder to a point where “God, I can't take this anymore...” Those times He pushed you harder, weren't out of “I'm going to make you suffer for the sake of suffering...” nor was He forcing you.
When our parents or guardians took care of us when we were younger, we always thought of them as strict. Or maybe we had a teacher or mentor who we thought was “mean” or “too hard on us”. That may be true, but none of it was to hurt us on purpose. In the end, we grew stronger. God does the same thing because He is our Father. He takes care of us as long as we look to Him first and give Him everything.
It's a love that also takes work, just like with good friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, spouses. Love takes a lot of work, however, unconditional love is the gift behind it all! When we stop working at love, we say “well I love you” but tend to stop really showing it because we know God loves us anyways. That's not exactly the case, when we get careless or lazy in working at it, then things go downhill. I read a quote a while back that I love dearly and write it down to remind me that I am the human and God is my Father.
If you are not as close to God as you used to be, who moved?
That quote is very true when we blame God for our troubles or fall away from Him. He never forced us into anything, therefore, He won't force us to stay with Him! It's us humans that make the mistakes, God is perfect and made us in His image, and sure we can't be perfect...But we can try to strive for Him and He will cleanse us of all sin.
John 14:15 says If you really love Me, you will keep obeying My commands.
So if we really love God we will follow Him! Heart, mind, body and soul and He will make us prosperous in Him and make our lives better. It won't be easy, nowhere in the Bible does it say anything is easy. When we follow God, it will be bearable and sometimes stressful, but God never pushes us beyond our limit, if we feel He does it helps us to grow!
And you shall love the Lord your God with all your mind and heart and with your entire being and with all your might.
